Garden to offer protection from corner traffic
Our client is a Super Daddy. The very first thing he requested was for us to design a garden that would protect his children and small dogs from traffic. And so we did. We installed massive basalt columns, 5/8th inch steel walls and trimmed it in gorgeous Ipe wood.
When you are inside this garden, you definitely have the feeling of being safe, of being inside a protective sanctuary.
The entry terrace is a great spot for riding tricycles, but it will also become a great place for a table or other furnishings once the kids get older.
There is a blend of nature, engineering and art in this garden. While the stone and metal is very strong, it is balance with delicate-looking plants (they are actually quite hardy).
The metal sections in the photo to the right had to be set in concrete in such a way that the gap between them was consistent and straight.
The precise placement of extremely heavy stone and metal components of this garden are a good example of design and implementation coming together.
Engineering at work - the heavy door pivots so smoothly that you can push it with barely a touch. This photo was taken during garden construction.
